The Whole Story

So we waited for the phone call from the hospital telling us to come in and be induced on Saturday, October 11th. It finally came at about 9:10. I had only gotten about 3 1/2 hrs of sleep because I was so dang excited. We checked into the hospital at 10:05 and we were in our delivery room by 11:00. They put monitors on me and asked me a ton of questions and did exams and all for quite a while, then broke my water to try to induce labor. I had specifically asked them to try breaking my water without the pitocin first and adding pitocin later if needs be, which they said was fine. That worked a little, but didn't send me into labor. So they added the pit drip at 2 ml/hr at about 1:00. That's half the dose the usually start someone at, which made me happy. (I'm anti drug-intrusion when it comes to labor. I know there are circumstances when it's necessary, but I believe they're used too much.) It didn't send me into labor still, so at 1:30 they upped my dosage to 4 ml/hr which did the job. Contractions started out pretty slowly, but came nonetheless. I went to about 5 cm by 2:30. (I started at 3 1/2 cm.) by 2:45 I was at 10 cm!! Most painful 15 minutes of my LIFE! I pushed for 15 minutes and was rewarded with a wonderful little boy. (Okay, maybe THIS was the most painful 15 minutes of my life. It's a toss up...) He's incredibly healthy and mild mannered. He's so perfect. 7lbs 8oz, 19in long. It's wonderful. :) I ended up needing a second degree episiotomy, which hasn't been very much fun. (Second degree meaning they cut skin and muscle, for those of you that don't know the difference.) We stayed in the hospital until Monday morning. We had Seth circumsized and then packed up and left the hospital. Nights have been rough and days have been fun since then. We luckily have my mom down helping us, and she has been a life saver. Life is good, isn't it? :)

oh, thanks! You must have been writing that at the same moment I was commenting wanting details! :)

And that is probably the fastest first-time labor story I think I have ever ever heard!!! You are very very lucky.
All 4 of my labors were close to 24hrs. long. With my first, I pushed for 2 hrs.
yeah, but I know you don't really care to hear my stories. :)
That's ok, I understand.
The only thing that matters right now is your own new little baby. And that's how it should be.
see ya soon, I hope!

I can't imagine pushing for two hrs! Your story sounds like a lot of stories I hear. I realize how lucky I am. Maybe the Lord just knew I wasn't strong enough to push that long. :)

Congrats! Glad he is hear. Man you are lucky. I pushed for THREE HOURS! Border line C section for me. I was in labor over 20 hours. Sorry about your episotomy. I had a fourth degree tear so I know that it doesn't feel that good.
